A special lounge named as ‘Silk Route’ was declared open at the Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake today(22), under the auspices of Minister Priyankara Jayaratne.  It has been set up by the Airport and Aviation Services Limited together with Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel. The main objective of opening the lounge is to provide more ease in access for the travellers who are visiting Sri Lanka hoping to engage in business activities.

A distinct feature of this facility is that while the passenger unwinds in the ‘Silk Route’ Lounge, airport staff take care of all the formalities he is expected to complete before embarkation or after disembarkation as the case may be.

Wi-Fi and other communication facilities have also been provided by Mobitel under the agreement reached with the Airport and Aviation Services Limited.
