Elections chief says final steps taken regarding election

Elections chief Dayananda Dishanayake says all final steps have been taken for the tomorrow’s presidential election. More than one hundred thousands public officials have been deployed for special election duties.

An they will report to respective polling booths from this morning. Over  14.8 million voters are elibible to cast their votes tomorrow.  Post Master General M.K.P Dissanayake says except Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya and all other areas , 95 percent of distribution of poll cards has been completed at now.  Elections commissioner says registered voters can cast their votes  even without their poll cards if they have their names on the election lists.

Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasooriya says widespread security arrangements have been implemented islandwide from today.  The aim of this task is to make environment for voters to cast their votes without any obstructions. neearly 69 thousand police officers have been deployed for election duties. Mobile police patrols service will be on duty. IGP says  deploying of police officers for election duties will begin this morning.

The polcie will be supplemented by additional supports from memebrs of the armed forces.

Elections commissioner has already announced he will take stern action against the election malpractices. Speaking to reporters on last Friday, he said he would order re-poll if any violence was occured against the voting at polling booths. and that will delay the announcement of final vote.  The commissioenr says if everything was free and fair he expects tto release final result of the presidential election on the Wednesday morning.
