It has been revealed that fake Rs.1000/- notes worth Rs.3 million from P100, P103, P130 and P133 categories are in circulation, Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana stated.
Details in this regard were revealed from a person that were taken into custody in Kesbewa recently with a bundle of fake currency notes. These confiscated fake currency notes even had the water mark and the symbol of the lion but were likely heavier than the genuine notes. The heaviness was the only possibility of identifying these fake notes.
It is illegal to possess or use fake currency notes. The police media spokesman requested the people to inform the nearest police station if they have any information regarding the persons who are transacting these fake currency notes.
