Major Parties To Gear Up the Campaign

Major political parties are planning to have massive scale campaign for upcoming presidential election. Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna will start their campaign at Hyde Park in Colombo this evening. Party leader Somawansa Amarasinghe and senior leaders of the JVP will address this meeting.
United National Party is going to hold a special convention at Welisara, Navaloka Stadium in next Saturday 5th December. Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka is expect to address this convention. This will be the General Sarath Fonseka’s first public meeting after he declared that he will be contesting the next presidential election. UNP, JVP and some other opposition political parties are supporting of the General Sarath Fonseka’s presidential candidature.
United People’s Freedom Alliance says they have already started their presidential campaign. Senior leader of the UPFA says they will have very comprehensive campaign for the next presidential election.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on the 26th of January 2010. Nomination will be accepted from December 17th between 9.00 am to 11.00 am, elections commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake announced last Friday.
