Parliament To Be Dissolved In Next Few Days

Senior political observers says President Mahinda Rajapaksa will dissolve the parliament before end of this week. Participating the last Friday’s parliament debate, most of the government MPs hint out that this session will be the last meeting of present parliament.
Sri Lanka Freedom Party has already started selecting their candidates for the upcoming parliamentary election. Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva says final interviews in this regard will start from today. Party is hoping to conclude these interviews before end of this week. He said a large number of new faces from various fields have already submit their application to contest this election.
Discussions are now in progress to allocate places for these parties in the nomination list. Meanwhile, United National party and United National Front leaders met last Saturday had a lengthy discussion about the parliamentary election. Most of them want to contest the election under the elephant symbol says a senior UNP parliamentarian.
They also want party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe to be named as a Prime Minister candidate for this election. We are going to discuss these matters with General Sarath Fonseka and JVP, he further said. JVP propaganda secretary parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said they have still not get a final decision regarding the election. We will take a decision considering the present political situation and what will be good for the country.
