Political Parties Getting Ready For Parliamentary Elections

All major political parties are now taking steps for upcoimg parliamentary election. The term of the present parliament will end on the 21st of April this year. But most of the senior political analysts says President Mahinda Rajapakse will dissolve the parliament and call the parliamentary election very soon.

Under the constitution, President Mahinda Rajapske now has the powers to dissolve the parliament at any time.  Constitution says after one year period, President can dissolve the parliament and call for palriamentary election. Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapakse will meet government parliamentary group members this evening at Temple trees.

The chif government whip senior minister Dinesh Gunawarena says that the President has conveyed this meeting. This is the first meeting of the Prersident and the government parliamentarians after the victory of the presidential election. The Minister further said that in this meeting several important political issues will be discussed.  Meanwhile parliament scheduld to meet on the 5th of this month.  Major opposition political parties namely United National Front, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna,  and Tamil parties are now having seperate discussions regarding the upcoming parliamentary election.
