Smart and electronic card system for paying toll to be introduced for the Southern Expressway within a year, the Road Development Authority said. In addition 20 CCTV cameras will also be set up.
Maximum speed limit for vehicles travelling in the expressway will 100 kmph. Drivers of the vehicles who violate the rule will be fined, an official of the RDA stated. 500 personnel each from the Police and the Road Development Authority will be deployed around the clock to supervise the traffic in the expressway.
The fee charged from a light vehicle for travelling in the expressway will be Rs.400/-, while Rs.1700/- will be charged from a heavy vehicle.
