Special Security At Returning Offices On Thursday & Friday

Senior DIG on election matters Gamini Nawarathne says police have made special security arrangements on Thursday and Friday around all the Returning Officers in islandwide. Accepting of nominations for the upcoming parliamentary election will be held till 26th of February at 12.00 pm.
United Peoples’ Freedom Alliance already started handing over of their nomination papers. United National Front will start handing over of their nomination papers from Thursday. Democratic National Alliance also going to handover their nomination from Thursday. Retired General Sarath Fonseka is the leader of this Alliance and JVP Propaganda Secretary former parliamentarian Vijitha Herath is the General Secretary.
Meanwhile, Elections Secretariat says all the political parties and independent groups who are contesting the upcoming parliamentary election has to submit their national list before 12.00 pm of 26th of Friday.
