Two Sri Lankan Records Set On Day One

Two new Sri Lanka records were set on the first day of the 88^th National Athletic Championship that began at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Diyagama on Friday, August 06.

S.G. Ranasinghe of the Air Force set a new record in the pole vault event for women.The other record was in the 3000 metres steeple chase event where W.T.E.K. Dulakshi also of the Air Force. She finished the distance in 11 minutes, 00.30 seconds. The previous best was 11 minutes 1.08 seconds set by Nimali-JNW
