Sri Lanka Women’s Beats Pakistan By One Run-report

Sri Lanka secured a dramatic one-run win over Pakistan in a thrilling match at the ICC World Twenty20 women’s match on Thursday in St Kitts. This was the second game of the competition that went right to the wire in what has been a thrilling opening to the tournament, following Australia’s dramatic defeat of England on Wednesday.

Pakistan, who had stunned Sri Lanka last year when it defeated its rivals for the first ever time at the ICC Women’s World Cup, looked well positioned to record another win when it reduced to Sri Lanka to 108 all out in 19.3 overs. Inoka Galagedara top scored for Sri Lanka with 25, but when she fell with the score at 66-1, the Sri Lanka side suffered a dramatic collapse to be 108 all out. The wickets were shared around the Pakistan side although skipper Sana Mir was arguably the pick of the attack with 2-12 from four overs.

Sri Lanka Women 108/10 in 19.3 overs (Galagedara 25); Pakistan Women 107/10 in 20 overs (Maroof 42)
