JVP Outlines Alternatives To APRC Proposals

JVP’s leader Somawansa Amarasinghe says the North and East should be demilitarized and the two provinces rebuilt after defeating terrorism and restoring democracy.

Amarasinghe outlined some of JVP’s alternatives to APRC proposals at a meeting with Foreign Correspondents in Colombo on Wednesday.

The JVP wants all families affected by the conflict to be compensated and the party would conduct a program to defeat separatism and racial discrimination, he said.

The JVP would also set up a Truth Commission, he said.
“So many sad things have occurred. Let us talk the truth,” Amarasinghe said.
