No Contracts For Sanath & Vass

Lankan national cricket selectors have left out veterans Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda Vaas as they approved national player contracts for twenty players for the next year.

Malinga Includes For Test Squad-Report

Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga has been included in the 16-member squad for the three-test series against India starting at Galle on July 18.  Malinga made his last test appearance in December 2007 against England. He was out of action for nine months with a knee injury. He returned to international cricket in February 2009, playing limited-over and Twenty20 Internationals.

Muttiah Muralitharan To Retire From Tests-Report

World leading  wicket taker  Muttiah Muralitharan  will retire from tests after this month’s first test against India.

“Murali took a decision to retire from test cricket during the West Indies series in November but with an unscheduled Indian series coming up he has fast-tracked his retirement from Test cricket,” said his manager on Tuesday.Kushil Gunasekara.  “The selectors want Murali to consider himself to be available for the 2011 World Cup which Sri Lanka is partly hosting with India and Bangladesh,” Gunasekara says.

The 38-year-old off-spinner is unlikely to play in the one-day Tri-Series against India and New Zealand next month but may play one-day internationals in the build-up to next year’s World Cup-report-JNW
