Sri Lanka Women’s Beats Pakistan By One Run-report

Sri Lanka secured a dramatic one-run win over Pakistan in a thrilling match at the ICC World Twenty20 women’s match on Thursday in St Kitts. This was the second game of the competition that went right to the wire in what has been a thrilling opening to the tournament, following Australia’s dramatic defeat of England on Wednesday.

Pakistan, who had stunned Sri Lanka last year when it defeated its rivals for the first ever time at the ICC Women’s World Cup, looked well positioned to record another win when it reduced to Sri Lanka to 108 all out in 19.3 overs. Inoka Galagedara top scored for Sri Lanka with 25, but when she fell with the score at 66-1, the Sri Lanka side suffered a dramatic collapse to be 108 all out. The wickets were shared around the Pakistan side although skipper Sana Mir was arguably the pick of the attack with 2-12 from four overs.

South Africa Beats Sri Lanka By 5 Wickets

A fine unbeaten 61 from Chamara Kapugedera was in vain as Sri Lanka slumped to a five-wicket defeat to South Africa with three balls to spare in a World Twenty20 warm-up on Wednesday (28).

Kapugedera and veteran Sanath Jayasuriya helped Sri Lanka post 137 for 8 before a 61-run partnership between Mark Boucher and Johan Botha allowed South Africa to squeeze home in the final over. Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara opted to bat first after winning the toss at the Kensington Oval but Tillakaratne Dilshan fell first ball to Rory Kleinveldt.

National Rugby Player Banned For Two Years-Report

Sri Lanka rugby player Samantha Lakshman who was found guilty on his behavior at the national team’s recent tour in Singapore was banned from the game for two years by Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union disciplinary committee. The ban will be effective from April 12, 2010 to April 12 of 2012-JNW

Chennai Super Kings Beats Deccan Chargers To Reach Final-Report

Doug Bollinger delivered two double strikes for a four-wicket haul and helped the Chennai Super Kings to a brilliant 38-run victory against defending champions Deccan Chargers in the semi-finals on Thursday.

The Aussie fast bowler took two wickets in his third and fourth overs as the Chargers, after restricting the Super Kings to 142 for 7, were all out for 104 in the final over.
