I receive Reuters Alerts 'free' as a Priority Customer of Dialog and also receive JNW Alerts.

After several months of comparison, I definitely feel JNW is far more 'on the ball' and accurate on key aspects of reporting (than surprisingly-Reuters!). For instance, JNW got the Tsunami Warning out immediately -while Reuters incorrectly denied it. JNW has given the latest on the Malaka Silva fiasco that Reuters has been missing altogether .. etc.

So my point is, that what's BEST is not necessarily FREE!

I also feel that as Sri Lankans, we should be proud of and support a 100% local company that gives a multi-national a run and beats them at the game in quality!

Just my view.

Hi, I believe Dialog is charging their customers, it might be free for their "club vision" members. Unfortunately, a monthly charge is required or we cannot pay our journalists.
Journalists are among the lowest paid professionals in Sri Lanka, as it is, and subscriptions are JNW's only source of revenue.

Yes news + advertising is another way of doing it Abdul, and we may offer that choice to some readers.

Currently we are offering people the choice of not being spammed and receiving unwanted advertising by SMS in return for subscriptions.

We are also offering them some peace of mind : )
