NEW Fox News articles can now be heard on audio! On July 28, a Texas grand jury charged former NFL player Kevin Ware, 41, for killing his girlfriend Taylor Pomaski, 29, and tampering with a corpse.

According to the Texas office of Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, if found guilty of murder, Ware could spend 15 years to life in prison.

Leslie Mandeville, Pomaski’s mother, said of Ware and his prior legal troubles before he was charged with killing her daughter, “He’s never been held accountable.”

Later, she said that she hoped “all parties are held accountable” in her daughter’s murder case and that Ware would spend “the rest of his life in jail,” along with “anyone else who is involved.”

Pomaski vanished on April 25, 2021, after a house party, but her body wasn’t found until May 20, 2022.

Mandeville went to Ware’s house on May 9, 2021, to pick up her daughter’s dog while police were interviewing the former NFL player at the time she initially reported him missing. Mandeville claimed that was her only encounter with her daughter’s boyfriend, who was reluctant to give Pomaski’s dog to her mother despite being “kind” when they spoke. Ware, Mandeville, and the police ultimately determined it would be best to give the dog to Pomaski’s family, according to Mandeville.

Ware was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in June 2021 for failing to appear for supervision earlier in the year. According to the station, Ware was apprehended following a pursuit in which he allegedly exceeded 115 mph and was later discovered to be in possession of both drugs and weapons.

The ex-player for the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Football Team is still being held without bond in the Montgomery County Jail.

Ware was detained by the U.S. Marshals Service in June 2021 for violating his bond after failing to show up for supervision earlier that year (Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office).

Ware isn’t the first ex-NFL player to be found guilty of abuse or murder. Mandeville claims Ware had a lengthy criminal history going back to his football days when he lived in Washington state, as NBC Sports previously reported. This is contrary to some experts who have suggested that some players commit horrific crimes because of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), or brain trauma brought on by repeated blows to the head.

A woman at Pomaski’s funeral approached Mandeville, hugged her, and revealed that she had known Ware as a young child when they had both grown up on the same street.

Mandeville added, “She alleged he tormented her throughout her childhood.” “This should have never occurred, she would say. Years ago, this should have been halted. She would leave and then return. She repeatedly apologized. I’m very sorry.”

Regarding the alleged abuse, Mandeville stated, “It didn’t just start.”

“Funny,” “happy,” and “front and center, all the time,” was how she described her daughter. Pomaski always had something to do and loved “being with her friends and family.” Although she was interested in computer technology, she had had a number of odd jobs while looking for her true calling in the workforce.

Since the gathering on April 25 where she was last seen, Mandeville had not heard from her daughter. Because it was Mother’s Day and her father’s birthday on May 9 and she hadn’t called her parents, which Mandeville claimed was unusual for her daughter, Mandeville made the decision to submit the missing persons report on that day.

Inquiring about their daughter, Pomaski’s ex-boyfriend also called her parents that day since he knew they would have heard from her on May 9. The 29-year-old then admitted to Pomaski’s ex that she had been in an abusive relationship and had been working hard to leave it. He then told her parents this information. While Mandeville is unaware of the magnitude of the abuse, she claimed to be aware that “nothing she would have done” could have justified the torture she received.

“6-3 and 300 pounds, he. 5-2 and 100 pounds, “said Mandeville. There was no justification for this to occur.

Mandeville asserted that she did have the solution to how to lessen the “guilt and shame” that their loved ones experience when a person is abused or has a drug addiction.

“I’m hoping we can find a method to eliminate that. It’s incredibly challenging when you’re the family member on the outside. You’re at a loss for what to do. She is an adult, and you are pleading with her to leave the area. But they aren’t prepared. The heartbreaking aspect of this, where it ends horribly, is Taylor “She spoke.

Although the investigation has been ongoing since Taylor’s disappearance in 2021, the court process is just getting started, according to Lacy Johnson, a chief prosecutor in the Harris County DA’s Major Offenders Division, who is in charge of the murder case. The DA’s office is urging “anyone who has knowledge about what happened between Kevin and Taylor to come forward.”
